The Maine Community College System is Maine's comprehensive two-year college system offering nearly 300 career and transfer programs, continuing education and customized training for business and industry. The seven Community Colleges are located in Auburn (CMCC), Bangor (EMCC), Fairfield/Hinckley (KVCC), Presque Isle (NMCC), South Portland/Brunswick (SMCC), Calais (WCCC), and Wells (YCCC). Off-campus centers are located in Bath, Damariscotta, Dover-Foxcroft, East Millinocket, Ellsworth, Houlton, Madawaska, and South Paris.
In 2003 the Governor's Community College Advisory Council was created to analyze Maine's current and future workforce needs and how Maine's community colleges could be prepared to meet them. Since the report the colleges have continued to grow. The Community Colleges served nearly 18,561 students in degree and non-degree programs and courses in fall 2012.
