More than half of Disability RMS's current workforce has received training through SMCC

Disability RMS is the nation’s leading provider of turnkey disability risk management products and services with more than $400 million of disability premium under direct management. Founded in 1993, the company employs more than 350 employees at its office in Westbrook, Maine. In 2003, Disability RMS embarked on a significant expansion, and defined the continued training and education of its employees as a top priority. The company sought proposals from numerous training entities and ultimately selected Southern Maine Community College, receiving a Maine Quality Centers grant to fund the project.

 

Today, more than half of the company's employees have received training from SMCC in subjects including leadership development, critical thinking, customer service, business writing, and time management.   

 

Over the last five years, Disability RMS has grown by more than fifty percent, hiring over 120 employees in the last two years alone. A large part of our success in growing our workforce – and being named the 2006 Best Large Company to Work for in Maine – can be attributed to the training programs that we have been able to offer our employees through SMCC and the Maine Quality Centers.
