Students, employers urge more tech school slots
AUGUSTA--A bill before the Legislature would add 1,000 more slots at the seven campuses of the Maine Technical College System.
Students and would-be students who ran up against the lack of classroom space testified in support of the bill before the Appropriations Committee on Wednesday. And employers told of their frequent choice between leaving skilled positions open or hiring workers from out of state.

She said the Eastern Maine Technical College has helped train up to 80 percent of the lab's employees every year, but the lab's work force is only going to grow.
