Arts and Sciences
The Associate in Arts degree is a two-year general studies program that gives you the opportunity to explore a wide range of academic and career options. You can take foundation courses in the arts and sciences, earning credits toward a two- or four-year degree. Credits are designed for easy transfer to Maine's Universities. And the unique mix of academic and career programs offered at Maine's Community Colleges let you "test the waters" in many different fields. Allied Health and Nursing
The Community Colleges offer over 30 programs of study in allied-health and nursing, including EMS/paramedic, health information technology, dietary technician, occupational therapy assistant, medical assisting, radiologic technology, and surgical technology. Students work directly with health-care professionals in hospitals and other clinical settings, while receiving training in the latest technologies at the colleges' modern laboratories. Automotive and Mechanical
Our Automotive and Mechanical programs prepare students for immediate employment in high-skilled automotive and equipment jobs all over Maine. Course work includes a mix of computer-based training and practical applications. With a mix of certificate and degree options, students can get certified for jobs as technicians and operators - or assume a wide variety of management and supervisory positions. Business
With over 20 business programs - many of them nationally accredited - Maine's Community Colleges offer a rich mix of career options. Our professional programs, such as accounting, business administration and small business management, are a great foundation for four-year degrees - with many transfer agreements in place in Maine and beyond. Computers, Graphics, and Multimedia
The boom of computer technology has created a wealth of challenging, high-paying opportunities for community college graduates. If you're interested in the rapidly-expanding fields of Internet and multimedia technology we offer a range of two-year options designed to prepare you for careers in broadcast and digital media, communications, Website production, animation and gaming, computer-aided drafting, graphic arts, printing and video production. Construction
To succeed in building trades today, you need more than hands-on experience. You need to know how to read a blueprint, estimate costs, understand building codes and build for energy efficiency. Our Construction programs will train you in the latest residential and light commercial construction technologies and prepare you for a job as a carpenter, contractor, estimator or supervisor. Education and Early Childhood
Our Early Childhood Education and Education programs qualify students to work as skilled, entry-level early childhood educators or educational support providers in a variety of settings, including day care centers, pre-school classrooms, and programs for children with special needs. You'll get a combination of educational theory and practical classroom experience. Electrical and Electronics
Graduates of our Electrical and Electronics programs are in demand as technicians and engineers in fields such as power generation, communications, computers, aerospace, electrical controls, instrumentation and manufacturing. We offer over 20 programs, some of them unique in Maine. Many of these programs are transferable to four-year engineering degree programs at other Maine colleges and universities. Engineering Technology
Maine's community colleges have egineering programs targeted to architectural, civil, electrical, and mechanical applications. Our graduates are employed as CAD operators, soil technicians, land surveying technicians, project managers,and electrical engineering technicians. Return to the program list
Heating, Plumbing, Air Conditioning, and Refrigeration
Maine's Community Colleges set the educational standard for many professional trades in Maine. With hands-on training in the latest systems and specifications, students graduate with the skills to qualify for professional licensing and certification - including many State of Maine Journeyman's exams. In addition to careers in the field, many plumbing, refrigeration, and HAC technicians are needed to supply the sales, application, laboratory, cost, and service ends of their industries. Hospitality and Tourism
Maine's tourism industry alone provides a wealth of job opportunities for graduates of our Hospitality programs. We offer popular programs in culinary arts, food service, operations, and management. Metals Fabrication/Manufacturing
If you're looking for a challenging, good paying job with excellent growth potential, our Manufacturing and Metals Fabrications programs offer a sure path to success. Both offer highly competitive salaries and virtually guaranteed employment for qualified graduates. With an emphasis on math and computer skills in our manufacturing programs, you'll learn the high-technology machining and manufacturing processes to become an entry-level CNC programmer, job shop machinist, tool-and-die person, quality control inspector. With the rise of technology requirements for Maine's papermaking industry, many people are entering our Pulp & Paper Technology program to develop the skills needed for well-paying production and supervisory positions at Maine's paper companies. Public and Occupational Safety
Our criminal justice, occupational safety, and fire science programs prepare students for rewarding careers in public service throughout the state. Students get hands-on experience and instruction from current and former professionals in the field and can participate in internship opportunities. Occupational Safety graduates learn current workplace safety practices, and are qualified for entry-level employment as technicians and inspectors in industry, insurance companies, consulting firms and government agencies. Other Programs
Your experience in the work world may translate into college credits! Maine's Community Colleges offer several special programs that give students academic credit for workplace experience. The Trade & Technical Occupations degree recognizes proficiency at the Associate in Applied Science Degree level for various trades and technical occupations where students have completed a formal registered Apprenticeship program and have journeyman's status.
