The lowest tuition and fees in New England

Maine’s community colleges offer one of the best educational values around. A two-year associate degree for full-time Maine students is $4,156 a year in tuition and fees, the lowest cost in New England.

*Tuition for Fall 2026 for in-state students is $96 per credit hour. Most courses are 3 credits or $288. A full-time student taking 15 credits each semester can expect to pay tuition of approximately $2,880 in 2026-2027. For full-time, out-of-state students who do not qualify for the tuition reductions listed below, tuition will be approximately $5,760 at $192 per credit hour.

Maine’s community colleges are the real deal. For nearly half of our degree-seeking student, Pell Grants and Maine State Grants cover the full cost of tuition and fees. For many, the grants cover significantly more. In all, 80% of degree-seeking students receive grant aid to help cover the cost of their education.
