Tuition & Aid

Full-time tuition and fees at Maine’s community colleges for Maine students is $4,156 a year, the lowest cost in New England. For about 80% of our degree-seeking students, Pell Grants and Maine State Grants cover the full cost of tuition and fees. For many, the grants cover significantly more. Recent high school graduates qualify for a Free College Scholarship that pays 100% of tuition. You don’t have to be a full-time student to qualify for financial aid.

Special Opportunities for MCCS Students

Maine community college students are encouraged to apply for special study-away and summer programs that offer students the chance to challenge themselves in new ways and new places.

Study in Canada

The MCCS New Brunswick Exchange enables Maine residents to study at one of New Brunswick’s 11 community colleges. The Canadian colleges offer a number of programs not available at Maine’s community colleges, and the Exchange makes it possible for Maine residents to pay a discounted rate, roughly equal to tuition and fees at Maine’s community colleges. An added benefit: programs in New Brunswick are available in both English and French.

Spend a Summer Exploring Transfer at Vassar College

The Exploring Transfer (ET) program at Vassar College offers community college students from several states the opportunity to participate in an intensive, five-week summer program on the Vassar campus in Poughkeepsie, NY. Of the 600+ community college students nationwide who have participated in Exploring Transfer over the past two decades, over 80% have transferred to four-year institutions. The application process begins in March. MCCS students who are selected to participate receive a scholarship that covers tuition, room, board, books, supplies, and a travel stipend.
