  • 9,245 applications were received for fall 2007
  • First-year students are evenly split (50/50) between males and females.
  • 33% of first-year students entered with some prior college.
  • 57% of first-year students are 21 or under; 29% are over 25; and 9% are over 40.
  • The average age of degree students is 26.
  • 46% of degree students attend part time.
  • 76% of full-time students are receiving financial aid.
  • The most high demand programs include early childhood education/paraprofessional, computer/multimedia, business & office administration, trades, nursing/allied health.

Enrollment at Maine's community colleges continues to grow

  • Enrollment has grown 55 percent, to 11,682 students, since the transition to community colleges.

  • The number of students entering directly from high school has increased 61 percent in the five years since the transition to community colleges.
