About Maine's community colleges
The Maine Community College System has seven colleges, nine campuses, and four off-campus centers in addition to online and remotely-delivered programs. The colleges serve more than 33,000 students a year through two-year associate degree and one-year certificate programs, short-term workforce training, early college programs, advanced certificates, and other learning opportunities. The system employs more than 1,500 people and has an annual budget of $277.5 million.

About the Search
The search for a new system president launches in August 2026 with the job posted in national and local publications. Candidates will be vetted by screening and search committees, with finalists participating in on-site visits and interviews. The MCCS Board of Trustees select the next president by vote, which is anticipated at a December 2026 board meeting. All members of the MCCS community and interested parties are welcome to send input, feedback, and questions to MCCSPresidentSearchInfo@mainecc.edu.
Timeline
The job will be posted through September 9, when all applications are due. Through October, the candidate pool will narrow and a small number of finalists will be selected by mid-November. Finalists will participate in on-site visits and further interviews, and a leading candidate will emerge. The Board of Trustees will meet and vote on the top candidate, likely at the December Board of Trustees meeting.
