Report on Remediation

State law (20-A MRSA §10012) requires that the Maine Community College System (along with the University of Maine System and Maine Maritime Academy) report on the number of students who come to the community colleges directly from a Maine public or private high school or home-instruction program and who require remedial coursework in either English or math. The law requires that the MCCS list the secondary schools attended by these students along with the number of students from each of these schools who are enrolled in a remedial course. In accordance with the law and to protect personally identifiable information, the report does not include the number of students requiring remediation from any one school if the number of those students is five or less.
